FLU SEASON IS FAST APPROACHING...
Are you and your child prepared? The Centers for Disease Control recommends children starting at age
6 months be vaccinated against the influenza virus. High risk groups include children under 5 years, (especially those under age 2), and those with chronic medical conditions. We will be giving flu vaccines starting in September of this year. Get your appointment today and be prepared for
this year's flu season.
For the latest information on influenza prevention, identification and treatment, please refer to the following website offered by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Information is provided in
both English and Spanish.
SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION, AND SO ARE GERMS!
Now that your child is back in school, chances are that he or she is also bringing home viruses and bacterial infections in addition to homework lessons. Teach your children how to prevent the spread of
infection.
- HANDWASHING is the single greatest prevention method for keeping germs away from your
kids and out of your homes.
- COVER THAT COUGH! Teach children to cough into their arms instead of their hands to help prevent the spread of illness.
- GET VACCINATED! Influenza vaccines are available starting in September of this year. Vaccines against many childhood diseases – such as chicken pox, measles, mumps and whooping cough – are incorporated into our Well Child exams. Make sure that your child is up to date on their vaccines.
If your child does become ill, we are here to help! Please contact our nurse for any questions you may have concerning your child's illness. They can direct you as to whether they need to be seen in the office or if they can be treated at home.
